Hi,
Please answer to the mailing list so that the discussion can benefit to anyone interested in.
Of course I do not tell you to use a different system... Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I suggest you to create another macro to cheat the reconstruction just to get what you want for the reconstruction part. You keep your simulation as is.
Unless you plan to develop a projector model for the reconstruction dedicated and adapted to your system, the solution I suggest should work for you. At the end you want to link two crystals. Whatever their shape, you will eventually consider a line (unless you develop a specific projector for your system). The line needs two end points. Then you just need a trick to get the points where you want them to be.
Assuming your crystals are oriented in the standard way (depth aligned to the radial direction): do you measure DOI or any positioning in your crystals ? If not, you will have to assume a mean depth of interaction. Then, whatever the shape of crystal, you will just consider two points to get a line. For the reconstruction, you define a crystal with a parallelepiped shape in a second "fake" macro and adjust the mean depth of interaction defined in castor to get the points where you want them to be.

Hi,
Thanks for your response. My designed a system by trapezoidal crystal and I need to extract its results such as image of source and then sensitivity and resolution. if I use parallelepipeds the results will be different. why should I change that? if I need the results of a parallelepiped crystal I would used a default PET system and I could used castor easily. I want to know how to use castor for PETs with different shape of crystals.

Hi,
You mean that you have crystals with a trapezoidal shape ? I guess so in the following.
Indeed, CASToR tries to read LengthX,Y,Z assuming that the crystals are parallelepipeds.
Unless you really want to use information extracted from the trapezoidal shape of your crystals in the reconstruction, you can cheat by creating a new macro file only for reconstruction purposes in which you transform your crystals into parallelepideds. Then you supply this macro file to the GateToCastor converter. It should do the trick.

Hello
I'm a GATE user and I defined a PETScanner with trapezoidal crystals. All reconstruction softwares use outputs of default scanners of GATE to reconstruct the image like CylindricalPET, SPECHead , ... which their default geometry is box. Can I use CASTOR software for a PETScanner with trapezoidal geometry? How?
